Where to base yourself
- Lagos — walkable old town, superb cove beaches and the best mix of history, food and nightlife on the west. Great all-rounder.

- Carvoeiro & Lagoa — pretty, low-key and central, right by Marinha and Benagil. Ideal for couples and the cliff-and-cave scenery.
