A bright, honest
Algarve guide
Independent, local and free to read — here’s what Farol Guide is, who’s behind it, and how it stays honest.
Farol Guide is an independent guide to the Algarve, Portugal — built as a bright, at-a-glance dashboard rather than a wall of text. The name comes from farol, the Portuguese word for lighthouse: a small, reliable signal that helps you find your way.
How we work
We cover the whole coast — beaches, regions, food, things to do and where to stay — and we try to be genuinely useful: the beach worth the drive, the month worth booking, the table worth the detour. No fluff, no clickbait, no pay-to-rank listings.
How we stay honest
No invented reviews
We never fake ratings or invent testimonials. If we haven’t seen it, we don’t rate it.
Booked direct
We point you to book direct where we can — no platform mark-ups, fewer middlemen.
Seen in person
Places and tips come from time on the ground, not scraped from other sites.
Clearly labelled
When a link earns us a commission, we say so — and it never changes your price.
How we make money
Farol Guide is free to read. We earn in three transparent ways: affiliate commissions when you book tours, car hire or transfers through our links (marked, and never at extra cost to you); by sending guests to Homing, our partner for Algarve villas and homes to rent or buy; and by featuring a small number of partner venues we’d recommend anyway, like Ostra D'Ouro in Vilamoura.
